Donnelly sees role for “centrist” caucus of Democrats, GOP politicians

Is Senator Joe Donnelly helping create a centrist group of politicians in Washington?

The Democratic Senator from Indiana met in Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins’ office over the weekend with an almost evenly divided group of almost two-dozen Democrats and Republicans to try to address the government shutdown.

In fact, the group sat in a semi-circle, snacked on Girl Scout Cookies, and only spoke when it was their turn to hold a NERF basketball (only after it replaced a stick).

Apparently, those politicians seem interested in wanting to meet weekly now and make a caucus.

Donnelly told the South Bend Tribune that they don’t have a name yet, though he seems to like the “Common Sense Caucus” moniker that’s been suggested.

Donnelly, along with other moderate Democrats like North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp and West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, is facing re-election this year.

Joe only crosses the aisle and votes in a bipartisan fashion when Chuckie Schumer tells him he can and usually only in a year when he’s up for election. The rest of the time Joe Donnelly is a straight party line voting hack. Joe, you are a fraud and we will be pleased when you go back to earning a living.
