The latest road closures due to flood waters

Update 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21:

TRAVEL ADVISORIES:

  • Marshall County is under a TRAVEL WARNING: That means that travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only.
  • Elkhart County and Starke County are under a TRAVEL WATCH: That means only necessary travel is recommended.
  • St. Joseph and LaPorte Counties are under a TRAVEL ADVISORY. Use extreme caution when driving.
  • Goshen’s Mayor has declared a State of Emergency, limiting travel to to first responders, emergency personnel and hospital staff.
  • The City of South Bend, in coordination with St. Joseph County, has issued a Local Emergency Declaration, as well as a TRAVEL ADVISORY. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg warned that drivers who enter closed roads will be ticketed.

IN SOUTH BEND: The following streets have been closed due to flooding:

  • Angela Blvd. from Lafayette Blvd. to Marquette Ave.
  • Buckhorn Dr. from Pulling St. to Carroll St.
  • Chippewa Ave. from Keria Trail to Gertrude St.
  • Fox St. from Michigan St. to Carroll St.
  • Michigan St. from North Shore Dr. to Bartlett roundabout
  • Northside Blvd from 20th St. to Beyer Ave.
  • North Shore Dr from Angela to Michigan
  • Riverside Dr. From Lafayette Blvd. to Michigan St.
  • Riverside Dr. from Marion St. to Bartlett St.
  • St. Joseph St. from Ewing St. to Donald St.

  • Several roads continue to experience high water and signs are out.  Please travel cautiously and slowly through our community.
  • The southeastern and southwestern portions of the community are under water, please drive cautiously.  Areas not susceptible to flooding have water crossing over the main east-west and north-south County Road network.  Please be aware that several warning signs are either damaged or washed away with the running waters.  We strongly urge drivers to avoid trying to drive through the water especially if you are unable to determine its depth.

  • Old Farm Drive, Entrance to Old Farm Apartments from Mishawaka Road. Residents can still access the apartments via the Bent Oak entrance off of County Road 7
