Benton Harbor football coach Elliot Uzelac has led his Tigers to a winning record every year since taking over the beleaguered program in 2015. Now he’s gone.

ABC 57 reports Uzelac resigned Friday afternoon after differences with the school board. Uzelac came out of retirement in 2015 to lead the Tigers, who hadn’t experienced a single winning season since 1989.

Uzelac previously served as head coach at Western Michigan and Navy and served as an assistant or coordinator for programs like Ohio State, Michigan, and Colorado and even served as an assistant on the Cleveland Browns.

Uzelac’s resignation is the next in a long line of resignations Benton Harbor Area Schools has endured this year. High School Principal Donald Pearson, Athletic Director Tray Crusciel, and Superintendent Doctor Shelly Walker all resigned in April.
