Indiana State Superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick has made the decision that, amid the ongoing pandemic, every teacher will be recognized as Indiana Teacher of the Year for 2021.

You can read the full release below from the Indiana Department of Education:

Each year, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) conducts the Teacher of the Year Program to recognize outstanding classroom teachers from across the state with the mission of inspiring, rejuvenating, and celebrating the teaching profession. One person is typically chosen to represent Indiana teachers at the national level, and IDOE supports a year of service allowing the teacher to remain in the classroom while supporting release time to participate in valuable opportunities as a voice for Indiana educators.

During this time of uncertainty and instability, Indiana teachers are once again a force supporting, guiding, and educating Hoosier students. Therefore, Dr. McCormick is recognizing all Indiana teachers during this unique time as champions who have proven, once again, they will do whatever it takes to address the academic, emotional, and behavioral well-being of Indiana students and families.

IDOE is proud to announce ALL Indiana teachers, collectively, are being named 2021 Teachers of the Year.

Previously, district leaders were given the opportunity to endorse multiple local nominees for statewide consideration. This will continue for the 2022 Indiana Teacher of the Year nomination process. This will allow districts to honor and endorse their 2021 and 2022 Teachers of the Year for the statewide recognition process at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year.

In this culture where everyone is given a trophy, awards become MEANINGLESS!! This is just another example of such.

Nope not all of them. People should really consider home schooling the kids. They get a much better education. Tests scores don’t lie. So sick of hearing Indiana leaders calling for more support of public schools, example, more money for this and that, it will make our schools so much better, bla bla bla! Look how much better they are now….. Common core math, they stopped teaching the kids how to write and they have stopped disciplining the kids in school too. These are just a few examples of how great our public schools really are. This is all we hear when someone runs for office in Indiana…. I will work to make our schools better. Sorry have not seen any evidence of advances. So really???? Make all teachers teacher of the year? E Learning has been sooooo wonderful, what a big joke. I might be more supportive of public schools when the government stops tring to improve them. Godbless the real educators….the homeschoolers. Public schools and teachers would do well to take lessons from the homeschoolers. Again the tests scores do not lie.
