Citing concerns over public safety the City Council and Mayor Jeremy Stutsman voted not to support a proposal that would have painted “Black Lives Matters” across the downtown thoroughfare.
The proposal was made by a local activit but with recommendations from city officials it was determined that the project was simply not safe enough. However, the city did take steps to allow the Mayor to commission a mural.
This would not be something painted on a street but could still give BLM supporters a chance to express their message; if so desired.
