State Rep stepping down to devote more time to her business

State Representative Christy Stutzman, just weeks after winning re-election, has announced that she’s stepping down.

Stutzman represents District 49, which covers much of eastern Elkhart County, including Middlebury and Goshen. The Elkhart Truth reports that she’s stepping away due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions on businesses in the state, specifically the impact on The Barns at Nappanee, where she is a co-owner. She’ll be devoting her attention to the business.

Stutzman has been critical of Governor Holcomb’s restrictions, calling them harmful for Hoosier businesses. She won re-election earlier this month with two-thirds of the vote.

She officially steps down on December 14th and will be replaced through a GOP caucus.

Holcomb won;t be happy until he ruins the state’s economy. Sorry to see you make this decision to go Christy. You did an excellent job as a state representative. Holcomb not so much as governor. He is weak and tells us every day how weak he is as he tries to become the tyrant within.
