Metal detectors at U.S. Capitol “too much” for a Hoosier lawmaker

The metal detectors installed in the Capitol after last week’s riots are too much for some Republicans, including Rep. Larry Bucshon, of Indiana. He was one of several Republican members of Congress to complain about the devices.

“Under the direction of Speaker Pelosi, magnetometers are at entrances to the House floor. Members of Congress are not allowed to perform their duty to vote on behalf of their constituents without going through this “security” checkpoint. @GOPLeader needs to formally protest,” Tweeted Bucshon, Tuesday.

Some of his colleagues refused to go through the detectors. It is unclear if Bucshon actually physically bypassed the detectors.

“The speaker and her Democratic colleagues think an appropriate response is to prevent members from exercising their 2nd Amendment Constitutional rights in the very place that wasn’t secure a week ago,” said Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.), on the House floor.

“This attack didn’t come from the inside. It came from the outside, and to respond by restricting members 2nd Amendment rights in the very institution that is supposed to uphold those rights is appalling,” he said.

Bucshon said he believes the restriction is unconstitutional.

“What @SpeakerPelosi is doing by forcing the Capitol Police to not allow Members onto the House floor without a “security” checkpoint is unconstitutional based on Article 1, Section 6. This should not stand,” Tweeted Bucshon.

The Indiana Democratic Party responded by accusing Bucshon of inciting “more hot rhetoric and egged on violence at the U.S Capitol”.

Bucshon condemned last week’s violence and statements made by Pres. Trump, that he said he believed incited the riot.

“Not even a week after a domestic terrorist attack against the U.S. Capitol — one where an Indiana Democrat was a target — and it appears Congressman Larry Bucshon would still rather play rhetorical political games than take necessary precautions to keep all lawmakers (and our country) safe,” said Democratic Party spokesperson Drew Anderson.

“Bucshon is proving there’s a moral problem within the Indiana Republican Party, because they’d rather abuse our trust and their constitutional duties than to show some common decency during these uncertain times. It truly shows how out of touch they really are.”

The debate that led to the installation of metal detectors lasted about 40 minutes. Republicans, like Rep. Jim Jordan, said that Democrats were playing a heavy hand with the detectors and fines for not wearing face masks.

So citizens living in Democrat strongholds can live in fear all summer with BLMifa rioting, looting, burning, and murdering, and that’s fine to the Democrats (who even called for defunding the police!) But the minute some ACTUAL peaceful protesters with legitimate concerns are let into the Capitol complex and walk around taking selfies, suddenly security is of the utmost importance.

If the Democrats hate their base enough to allow them a summer of pain that they themselves would never tolerate, imagine how much they hate the rest of us…

are you kidding me? they MURDERED A CAPITOL police officer, tore the building up broke windows, sprayed the police with pepper spray, came in with zip ties ready to be placed, erected a hanging gallow, and you’re calling them “peaceful protestors”? If thats peaceful I’ve got a bridge to sell your blind self!

Where was your outrage this summer when cities were burning as a result of the peaceful Anti and Black Lives Matter crowd?

Yeah, not to mention all the fires and looting and effigy burning. Oh, wait, no, none of that happened. Well, the window breaking did, but there are also plenty of videos of the protestors pulling people away who were doing damage. Not to mention a lot of the people involved in the capitol “breach” (if you call the police moving barriers and unlocking doors a breach) have been ID’d as BLM Antifa people.

Also, that capitol officer was not bludgeoned to death with a fire extinguisher. Last reports I saw it looked like a stroke or heart attack.

SO, you REALLY think antifa people, bought trump outfits, flags, hats, and actually supported Trump enough to do that AND listen to his speech and to follow “him to the capitol” and do all that? You’re being ridiculous and blind and acting as if it “couldn’t have been trump supporters”! Grow up! The WHOLE country is cooking up some big conspiracy to get rid of Trump? GTFOH! It’s SO IGNORANT of you and your ilk to TRY to keep blaming EVERYTHING on someone else instead of just letting trump take the blame for what he did and has done. you’re going to listen to ,”I heard it was antifa” as it came out of his mouth? Seriously, everyone else lies BUT Trump, huh? GEEZUS, YOU’RE PATHETIC!

Yeah. Many of them have been doxxed online, but of course you’ll never see it because the media insists that there is no evidence of it whatsoever and social media is banning anyone who talks about it. Seems to be a pattern lately of the media denying the bleedin’ obvious, and then lamenting that people don’t trust them even as social media turns itself into an echo chamber by banning dissenters.

You should be flattered that people would think Antifa would embed themselves like this, because it’s actually a really smart move. Of course, that’s the best argument against the antifa morons actually doing it…

Whaa-whaa, we have to go through metal detectors at the airport, the County-City building, ND football games all due to BS TSA mandates you politicians passed for us to follow. Now you are being asked to do the same and we are supposed to be sympathetic? You’ve got hubris man, I’ll give you that. Pass laws that everyone has to live by (you included) and maybe you’ll think about what you are voting for instead of 5000 page bills that no one has read except for the lobbyists that wrote them. Had just about enough of your whining!
