One person was killed and another injured in a house fire Monday night in Van Buren County.

First responders were called to the address on Co. Rd. 653 shortly after 7 p.m. and found one person near the entrance of the home. Attempts to get the other person to leave the burning house were unsuccessful. He was a man in his 60s who was eventually discovered unconscious and could not be resuscitated.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
