Senator Todd Young on the issues of the day

China is trying to keep a leg up on the United States and the rest of the world, according to Sen. Todd Young.

That’s something that can’t be allowed to happen, he says. Young is stressing that the way to keep the United States ahead of China when it comes to economics, innovation, and military strength is to approach it in a bipartisan way.

“There are certain lines along with we should not be divided,” Young told The Donlon Report on NewsNation. “Foreign policy should not be a political issue. The American people expect us to unify. Especially, against a threatening strategic rival like China.”

Young believes China is trying to “project an image of stability” to the whole world in order to take advantage of the optics of partisan political infighting among lawmakers in the U.S. Young has a plan to negate that.

“It starts with a growing economy,” said Young. “That’s why I’ve worked with Sen. (Chuck) Schumer (D) hand and glove in a bipartisan fashion, on legislation called the Endless Frontiers Act.”

He said the bill will help the U.S. to stay poised to out-compete and out-innovate the Chinese. What that exactly would entail, Young would not say for certain just yet.

Young is also stressing a need to closely monitor spending through the whole process, especially with a $1.9 trillion COVID relief package in the rearview mirror. Now there are rumblings on Capitol Hill that there could be a $3 trillion package that has to do with immigration coming down the pike.

“I can’t imagine spending that amount after a 1.9 trillion dollar package,” Young said as he added that he would likely not support such a package.

Young is calling on President Joe Biden to recognize the situation on the southern border as a crisis.

We just spent $86 million to house 1200 families who came across the border illegally. That’s $72k PER FAMILY.

I think perhaps we need to look a lot more closely at the money President Potato is spending, I smell grift. Massive amounts of grift!
