Elkhart County Health Officer: Now is not the time to stop wearing face masks

Whether residents in Elkhart County will be required to wear face masks after the state mask mandate ends in a week remains to be seen.

Local governments are allowed to keep or issue tougher restrictions than the state.

Though nothing is official, yet, Elkhart County County Health Officer Dr. Bethany Wait told 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth earlier this week that now is not the time to stop wearing masks.

The county’s seven-day average positive test rate is between 6 percent and 7 percent after having been steady around 5 percent for weeks. The number of cases is also up, from a recent low seven-day average

She also says not enough county residents have been vaccinated just yet.

In St. Joseph County, the mask mandate has been extended through late May. But, the extension notes that this will be the final time that they will be extending the mandate.

It’s also likely that the St. Joseph County Council will not renew an ordinance mandating masks be worn in public indoor places next month.

If there is a mask mandate in place now and the positive rates are going up, as they have in the past, couldn’t a reasonable person assume mask have never been effective? Seems awfully suspicious to me every time the Tyrant’s unconstitutional infringement on our liberties are about to run out the “positive rates” magically creep up. And who is Dr. Wait to say not enough county residents have been vaccinated just yet. What kind of power does she have to make sure that happens? That’s right, none! Ever hear women say they have a right to do what they want with there body? Shouldn’t the same be given to everyone to chose whether or not they will take a vaccine? Stand up people and stop letting these unelected “Health Officials” run your lives.

It is never soon enough for a health Nazi to relinquish power. Mostly she will be ignored as is right and proper. If anyone is afraid then STAY HOME or make you own decision on the masquerade and leave everyone else to their own devices.

Dopey King Joe the Moronic has a lot of very minor court jesters such as the Elkhart County Health officer ready and more than willing to ignore science for a political agenda. They have to keep the cornyvirus going until after the midterm elections. Mark My Word!

By the way, the Elkhart County Commissioners were goaded into passing a mask ordinance with fines fro non compliance. They recently abandoned this foolish effort. Not a SINGLE fine was ever issued.

Since most Elkhart County residence are wearing their mask I agree with Chris. If the rate is going up while wearing masks, do they really do as advertised. Of course, leading health Nazi, Darth Fauci, Let the Farce be with You, says they do but he offers zero evidence and was unwilling to sponsor new studies.

A reasonable person could look around and see that people have stopped wearing their masks in resent weeks. They could also put two and two together and see that mask do make a difference.

Pretty hard to continue mask mandate when test results are completely inaccurate. Do some research please. All these decisions have been made on totally false data! Cycle counts for PCR tests are supposed to be 17. Labs are running the test above 30. Makes them a false positive results. This entire pandemic is fraud.
