State awards $3.3 million to improve roads, bridges in Elkhart County.

The state of Indiana has awarded nearly $3.3 million to help improve roads and bridges in Elkhart County.

The Elkhart County government received $1 million. The rest of the $3.3 million was distributed to towns and cities, with Middlebury receiving the highest amount, $595,020, and Goshen being on the low end at $170,602.

The cities of Bristol, Elkhart, Millersburg and Nappanee each received between $318,455 and $452,868.

Some of the repaving will take place on the bigger stretches including C.R. 20 from C.R. 19 to S.R. 15, and C.R. 35 from S.R. 120 to C.R. 4 West.

To put it in perspective, the roundabout at CR6 and Co Line road cost $3.3 million.

For one roundabout.

This grant is a rounding error at best.
