Despite the many challenges facing the country in 2020, Michigan’s food and agriculture exports boomed last year.

Total exports grew by $340 million in 2020, or by 18.7%. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Michigan’s agricultural exports in 2020 totaled $2.16 billion.

The state says its top exports include processed foods, soybeans, wheat byproducts, cereals, baked goods, and dairy products.

Governor Whitmer praised what she called “Michigan’s extraordinary farmers” for the sacrifices they made to help feed millions of families worldwide.
