Three people were killed when a train hit their minivan Saturday morning.

East Chicago Police say around 12:51 a.m., they responded and found the minivan with “extensive damage” about 200 yards west of the railroad crossing at 4600 Euclid Avenue.

Police say a 36-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, and a 10-year-old girl died at the scene.

Three other passengers, all boys ranging from 7 to 10-years-old, were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police are still trying to figure out how the train and the minivan collided.

Surveillance footage shows the minivan was northbound on Euclid Avenue when the driver ignored activated crossing lights, and was hit by the train.

“Surveillance footage shows the minivan was northbound on Euclid Avenue when the driver ignored activated crossing lights, and was hit by the train.”

Seems like the police already have their answer. The question is, why won’t they accept it?
