SafeWise study reveals how Hoosiers feel about gun safety

A new survey conducted by SafeWise reveals with a rise in gun sales across the state, residents are on edge about gun violence. More guns were sold in Indiana than almost any other state

According to the FBI, over 1.1 million firearm background checks were performed in the state so far in 2021.

Meanwhile, the nationwide survey found that Indiana is one of the most-concerned states in the country about gun violence.

SafeWise’s State of Safety in America in 2021 survey asked over 5,000 Americans about their perceptions of crime and safety, and found that 60% of Indiana residents are highly concerned about gun violence daily, much higher than the US average (53%).

Here are some key stats:

  • Less than half (48%) of Indiana residents call Indiana a “safe” state.
  • 44% of Indiana residents are worried about a gun violence incident happening to them (US average 38%).
  • 10% of Indiana residents reported that they or someone they know were a victim of gun violence in the last 12 months.
  • 68% of Indiana residents think that crime is on the rise.
  • 24% of Indiana residents say they protect their property with a firearm.
  • 17% of Indiana residents say they carry a concealed firearm for personal protection.

So with all the statistic about how Hoosiers are worried about crime it makes sense they would by personal protection firearms………..After all, they are not thinking the cops can save them or the politicians either. They all know they are on their own when ti comes to protecting themselves, their loved ones, and their property.

Nothing at all earth shattering with this study. It just shows how the world really works. When people do not feel safe they take measures to insure their own safety. The only people that have to be concerned about all the gun buying are the criminals.

Then there are the health Nazis coming to your door soon to ask about your vaccine status.

They say gun “safety”, but I think they mean that other thing…

The two are not the same.
