Tuesday, July 13, is the day that eight Indiana University students will appear in federal court to challenge the university’s vaccination mandate.

IU announced, earlier this year, it will be requiring all students, faculty, and staff to receive COVID vaccinations before they can return for the fall semester with exemptions for those with religious or medical exemptions.

The students’ attorney says the suit was filed to preserve students’ rights to bodily autonomy, due process, an education free from unnecessary restrictions, and the right to consent to medical treatment.

The students will ask a federal judge to put the mandate on hold until the end of the lawsuit.

A ruling by the court is expected within two weeks.
