Fugitive arrested after seven day search

A South Bend man who led police on a seven-day hunt through Michiana was apprehended in Niles Thursday.

35-year-old David Monsivais IV was set to be tried by a jury on August 12 for charges of rape, residential entry, stalking, domestic battery and strangulation.

According to reports, Monsivais cut off his GPS moitoring bracelet and never showed up to the trail.

The court issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

After seven days of search for the man, he was arrested in Niles on August 19.

Monsivais was booked into jail on August 20 where he remains custody there.

The jury found the man guilty on all charges but the strangulation charge.

Monsivais will be sentenced on September 29.
