A piece of important medical research is coming to South Bend.
The South Bend Clinic has been selected to take part in a national research study for an adult vaccine trial.
The vaccine targets RSV, a respiratory virus that affects young children and seniors, typically in winter. Prior to COVID RSV was a major cause of death in seniors over 65 and still takes around 20,000 lives each year.
South Bend Clinic Center for Research Medical Director Dr. Jim Harris tells ABC 57 a prevention vaccine against RSV has never been successful in the past, but COVID-inspired technology has driven research this year to try and bring an end to it.

Too bad the SBC can’t supply their patient’s with needed medical infusion drugs, instead of doing research. Sad 😢
