A former Notre Dame football player is suing the University and the NCAA, claiming they are negligent in educating players about the dangers of concussions.

The suit was filed last month by Richard Morrison, who played on the 1988 Fighting Irish National Championship team. The South Bend Tribune reports that it alleges Notre Dame and the NCAA “recklessly disregarded” information related to the medical dangers of concussions and head injures, and failed to appropriately warn players.

Morrison alleges this was done to “protect the very profitable business of ‘amateur’ college football.” He says in the suit that he now suffers from short-term memory loss, emotional instability, depression, speech difficulty and more as a result of head injuries suffered during his four seasons at Notre Dame.
