One person has been arrested in connection to a crash back in June that killed one and injured three others.
On June 13, police were called to the area of U.S. 20 and Pinetree Drive, just before 6:30 p.m. for a report of a crash.
When officers arrived they found one of the involved drivers unresponsive and trapped inside his vehicle.
The driver was identified as 19-year-old Malachi Young of Michigan City. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police activated the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team who discovered 22-year-old Michael Murphy of Hobart was allegedly responsible for the crash.
Murphy has been charged with the following:
OWI causing death (three counts)
OWI causing serious bodily injury (six counts)
Murphy surrendered himself at the LaPorte County Jail where he is being held on a $20,010 cash-only bond.
