USPS to slow mail delivery in order to cut costs

The U.S. Postal Service is slowing mail delivery in order to slash costs.

The postal service’s three-day delivery standard for first-class mail, including letters, bills and tax documents, will drop to a five-day delivery schedule.

Almost four in every 10 pieces of first-class mail will be affected. This is the slowest mail delivery has been since the 1970’s.

The states that will feel the biggest impact are California, Nevada and Florida.

The USPS will continue with two-day delivery for single-piece first-class mail traveling within a local area.

So a company that is heavily subsidized by our tax dollars will now be less efficient….. hu it’s almost like everything that the government touches gets worse

Indeed, it’s a government-run tax-subsidized natural monopoly that still can’t manage to compete.

I know, let’s have the government run healthcare and education also! That will work for sure. Heck, maybe we can even get them to manage our retirement funds…

It’s not subsidized by taxes, it received a loan from the Fed last year for $10 billion. that’s no different than banks being allowed to gamble on real estate, while their insurance is subsidized by the taxpayer. Do you have a problem with THAT? The post office doesn’t have to make a profit anymore than social security has to make a profit.

It takes 12 to 14 days for my bill payment to get from Plymouth to Merrillville. Now its going to be slower, wonderful. That would never work in the private sector.
