The Elkhart Community Schools have made the decision to return to a mask-optional policy.

Tuesday night, the schools voted to drop their mask mandate, a move that was effective on Wednesday. The Elkhart Truth reports that the vote was 6-1 in favor of the change. Superintendent Steve Thallheimer says the district has had a 76% reduction in positive cases since the start of the year and a 94% reduction in close contacts.

The move was also encouraged by the district’s installation of air purification units in large classrooms, as well as the CDC’s recent approval of the Pfizer COVID vaccine for children aged 5 to 11.

Due to a federal mandate, masks are still required on school buses.

Could it be that common sense is creeping into some school boards?

The school buses are not in interstate commerce. They are owned by the local school system which is owned by the PARENTS/TAXPAYERS. No Masks on the Buses either. Have a backbone in resistance to TYRANNY. DO NOT COMPLY with the control freaks in the government. I’m just sayin’. Better yet, put your kids in private church school or home school them. If enough did this the schools would lose more money they now spend irresponsibly.
