Teachers in the Baugo Community Schools’ will see an increase of pay for teachers.

School board members say the new contract increases pay for all teachers with at least one year of experience with the district.

It also increases the Baugo Community Schools starting certified salary to $40,000, starting in July. It will also increase the top of the teacher scale to $68,900.

The board approved a minimum salary increase of $2,400 up to a maxim increase of $2,800.

According to The Elkhart Truth, the district estimated an average salary increase of around 5.5 percent for teachers.

These raises to teacher salaries were calculated based on the teacher compensation model, that includes teacher evaluation, experience and credentials based on academic needs of students.

South Bend schools push through a referendum that was supposed to be used to increase teacher pay but wasn’t.

Baugo increases teacher pay, no referendum required.

I guess it’s obvious that the deep blue SBCSC is woefully mismanaged and that bright red Baugo is well run.
