A pedestrian was struck and killed when they were hit by a semi on I-94 in LaPorte County.

It was around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, when state police received a call from a trucking company saying they believed one of their drivers had struck a pedestrian.

That call was about 45 minutes after calling to report the driver had struck a deer and was waiting at a rest park in Michigan at the one-mile marker.

State troopers found the pedestrian, dead, near the eastbound 45 mile marker. The pedestrian had been dressed in dark clothing.

The semi driver is cooperating with this investigation.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors.
