A 19-year-old Osceola man was killed in a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.

The collision happened on Saturday, Dec. 11, in the area of McKinley Highway and Cedar Trail.

Investigators say Abdullah Matwaa was traveling westbound on a motorcycle on McKinley.

A vehicle driven by an 81-year-old man from Mishawaka was traveling eastbound before turning left at the intersection.

The motorcycle struck the passenger front door of the man’s car.

The man’s vehicle then struck a vehicle that was stopped on Cedar Trail.

Matwaa died at the scene.

The Mishawaka man was cooperative and impairment does not appear to be a factor.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office sent the following information to 95.3 MNC about the crash:

Saturday at approximately 5:15 p.m., law enforcement responded to a fatal crash near the intersection of McKinley Highway and Cedar Trail.

Abdullah Ayad Matwaa, 19, of Osceola was driving a motorcycle westbound on McKinley
Highway.

A vehicle driven by an 81 year-old man from Mishawaka was eastbound on
McKinley Highway before turning north at the intersection.

The motorcycle struck the passenger side front door of the turning vehicle.

Following the initial crash, the Mishawaka man’s  vehicle struck a stopped southbound vehicle on Cedar Trail driven by a minor.

Matwaa was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The Mishawaka man suffered minor injuries. The minor was not injured.

The Mishawaka man was cooperative, and impairment did not appear to be a factor. Toxicology results are pending.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team was activated, per protocol, to assist
with the investigation.
