St. Joe County Public Library presenting “Movies @ Main” during January

The St. Joseph County Public Library presents Movies @ Main, a series of documentary screenings in the new 250-seat auditorium at the Community Learning Center of the Main library branch in January.

The films’ directors will be available for a Q&A session following the films.

Seating is on a first-come, first serve basis. Concessions from the library will be available for purchase.

“Big Enough, Small Enough – South Bend in Transition” (2020)

A Documentary by South Bend Filmmakers Ryan Blaske and Zach Schrank

Friday, January 14 | 7:00-9:30pm
Saturday, January 15 | 2:00-4:30pm

Join Directors Ryan Blaske and Zach Schrank as they provide an inside look into their documentary for the library’s first film screening in the new Auditorium. Q&A session will follow the film. Posters will be available for purchase.

“South Bend is in the midst of its most dramatic shift since the collapse of Studebaker in 1963. Today, it is at a turning point and still trying to find its footing. Big Enough, Small Enough is a set of conversations with people around South Bend that captures how residents are experiencing its changes, embracing its new life and confronting its enduring problems – all as the mayor, Pete Buttigieg, ran for president.”

“Prime Farmland” (2020) and “Kiss the Ground” (2020)

Join Director Sybil Drew for an inside look and film screening of her documentary “Prime Farmland”. A second film, “Kiss the Ground” will also be featured with a Q&A session to follow.

About “Prime Farmland”
“This documentary film follows farmers and activists fighting together to stop the Indiana Enterprise Center, a mega-sized industrial park planned west of South Bend, Indiana. Filmed on location in South Bend, Indiana & New Carlisle, Indiana.”

About “Kiss the Ground”
“Released in September of 2020 on Netflix, Kiss the Ground the movie narrated by Woody Harrelson is a full-length documentary shedding light on a “new, old approach” to farming called regenerative agriculture, a practice with the extraordinary ability to balance our climate and feed the world.”
