If you’ve been following the effort to pass a Constitutional carry bill in the state legislature this year, the effort essentially failed in a state Senate committee Wednesday evening. An amendment to the bill that was being considered eliminated the original language of the bill that would have allowed Hoosiers to carry handguns without a license.

“What this amendment did was it stripped all the language, 100 percent of the language of the original bill that passed the House 64-29, they take that bill, they strip all of the language out of it completely,” said Guy Relford, a gun rights attorney, talking to WIBC’s Rob Kendall.

He said that passing the amendment defeated the purpose of the bill, at the behest of some of the state’s law enforcement leadership.

“Now there’s an expedited process to get your license and there’s a means ny which you can carry a handgun while you’re waiting on your permanent license to come in the mail,” said Relford.

That is not what gun rights advocates would call “Constitutional carry”, which would essentially be carrying a gun without having to have the permission of the government, via a permit or license.

“It is an improved system for issuing licenses. But, you still have to beg the government for permission to exercise a Constitutional freedom.”

Relford expressed frustration that after years of effort by gun rights advocates that Indiana, with a Republican supermajority, cannot pass a Constitutional carry bill, which historically has been a Republican issue.

Can we get primary challengers for Brown and Bray please? Anyone in their districts willing to step up would get a donation from me.

Brown showed in the committee meeting by words and body language that she is hostile to supporters of the second amendment and freedom in general.

The NRA needs to give these people an F on their score card. RINOs at best.

Is anyone else sick of glorified lawyers in a failed government telling us what we can and cant do?? If we insist on having a “government”, can we please find people with brains and courage?

I want the Indiana State Police leader fired. He claims the licenses are needed to determine who is legal. Yet he does nothing about the criminals carrying around firearms illegally, including convicted felons who are now prohibited from touching a firearm or handling ammunition. How is he to know who they are during a traffic stop???

It seems the Law-abiding is the only one punished for criminal activity while they are merely trying to protect themselves.
