He said he didn’t stop because there was a warrant issued for him. That, from a man who led police on a chase through St. Joseph County.

The pursuit happened on Thursday, April 21, when an officer with the St. Joseph County Police Department saw a van pull out of a gas station and turn left onto Ash Road in a no-left-turn zone.

The van then turned onto McKinley Highway and crossed the center line. The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver, identified as Robert Dillard, continued on.

Dillard hit stop sticks at Logan and Jefferson, then stopped in the area of Mishawaka Avenue and 34th Street.

ABC 57 reports Dillard had an active warrant for failing to register as a sex offender and will appear in court on Monday.
