It’s 41 months in prison for a Grand Rapids man caught on the Indiana Toll Road with a gun that he shouldn’t have had.

Taequan Richardson, 23, was sentenced in U.S. District Court after he pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to court documents, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on the toll road and, during a search of the car, law enforcement recovered a firearm underneath the front passenger’s seat at Richardson’s feet.

Richardson’s criminal history revealed he has a prior conviction in Michigan for manufacturing and delivering controlled substances, and as such, was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

How about “unlawful possession of a firearm” instead of “unlawful firearm possession”. The firearm was not unlawful…

The news does this a lot for some reason.
