Indiana Republican Congressman Larry Bucshon is pleased with the House passing a bill that he believes would help Americans deal with the current “mental health crisis.”

The Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act (H.R. 7666) passed out of the House of Representatives with a 402-20 vote. It goes to the Senate next. It includes several bills, one of which is Dr. Bucshon’s Triumph for New Moms Act.

“This bill reauthorizes many of the critical mental health programs Americans currently rely on, but also provides for new measures. Especially important to me is the inclusion of the Triumph for New Moms Act, a bipartisan bill I co-authored with Representative Nanette Diaz Barragan (CA-44). It aims to establish a no-cost, interdepartmental task force to address the U.S. maternal mental health crisis by eliminating duplication and coordinating federal resources towards maternal mental health,” said Bucshon on Wednesday.

Among other things, it establishes a federal Behavioral Health Crisis Coordinating Office, expands behavioral health workforce training, improves behavioral health integration into primary care, improves funding for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and requires self-funded health plans to comply with mental health parity laws.

It also strengthens Medicaid behavioral health services for children.

Bucshon represents Indiana’s 8th congressional district, which is anchored in Evansville. It also includes Jasper, Princeton, Terre Haute, Vincennes, and Washington.

The only people helped by this bill will bee those working in the mental health field. They will have a big money drop but those in heed of help will never go there.
