The St. Joseph County Department of Health has a limited supply of the Jynneos vaccine for post-exposure prophylaxis only for the prevention of monkeypox infection. Vaccine is available only to Indiana residents who have been exposed through prolonged, close, intimate contact to a confirmed monkeypox infection within 4 days prior to receiving the vaccine.
Per Indiana Department of Health vaccine mandate, the local health department’s supply cannot be used for pre-exposure prophylaxis.
Exposed individuals that qualify for the vaccine should call the St. Joseph County Department of Health Immunization Clinic at (574) 245-6776 during business hours (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8am-12pm & 1-4pm); or after-hours call (574) 252-9771 to set up an appointment.
Individuals with symptoms of monkeypox should contact their primary care provider or visit an urgent care center for services.
For more information about monkeypox treatment and control, please visit the Indiana Department of Health monkeypox resource page at Health: Epidemiology Resource Center: Monkeypox (in.gov) or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at www.cdc.gov.
