Man charged with armed robbery of South Bend O’Reilly Auto Parts store

St. Joseph County Jail
A man is accused of pulling a gun and robbing a worker at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store on Lincolnway West in South Bend.
It happened Monday, Oct. 17, as the worker took the store’s deposit to her car for a trip to the bank.
She said a man who had just been in the store pulled a gun, pushed it against her and asked for the bag. Once he got it, he and another man, who was at the Auto Zone next door, took off.
Within a half-hour, police got a 911 call from a caller who said he was with the suspect right after he robbed the woman outside of O’Reilly, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
Thanks to the tip, James Thomas was arrested and charged with a count of armed robbery.
