Man, 24, shot and killed in South Bend, two suspects arrested

A man was shot and killed and two people were arrested in South Bend.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.
South Bend officers were on patrol when they heard shots fired near the 1300 block of Vassar Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim, Lawrence Witzke, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified.
Within minutes of the shooting, officers detained two suspects.
Through an investigation and the processing of evidence by our Violent Crimes Unit, the suspects were placed under arrest and were transported to the St. Joseph County Jail.
The suspects are awaiting formal charges from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Another life lost to senseless violence. I am so sorry this man’s family has to go thru this horrible grief. I pray they might feel God’s grace & peace during this time.
I wish ALL homicides could be solved as quickly as this one and everyone be able to receive justice quickly for their loved one.

Thank you for your kind words. We are all in shock and hope that justice will be served for my cousin. He was always the sweetest guy, never had a foul word about anyone. He was always trying to keep the peace, being kind to others, spreading love. He will be forever missed.
