Mishawaka woman, 41, killed in crash on M-60 in Cass County

A 41-year-old Mishawaka woman was killed after her vehicle was hit from behind and sent her into the path of an oncoming semi.

The collision happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, on M-60 at Anderson Road in Howard Township.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s investigation, Sarah Proctor, 41, of Mishawaka was stopping in the roadway of M-60 to turn onto Anderson Road when a 34-year-old Dowagiac woman traveling southwest on M-60 and crashed into the back of Proctor’s vehicle.

The Dowagiac woman’s vehicle continued off the roadway and rolled onto its side.

Proctor’s vehicle was pushed into the northeast lane of traffic. A semi-truck driven by a 72-year-old Niles man was traveling northeast on M-60 and crashed into Proctor’s vehicle.

Proctor died at the scene.

The Dowagiac woman and her three passengers were taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment.

This case remains under investigation.

Sounds like manslaughter

As a reminder – safety when stopped for a turn do NOT turn your car wheels until you make the turn If you are hot from behind with the wheel turned this can happen So tragic
