Knife-wielding man who tried to get into John Adams High School identified

John Adams High School went on lockdown, around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, when a possibly armed man tried, but failed, to get inside the building.

The School Resource Officer apprehended the man, identified as Juan Maldonado, 31, in the 1400 block of Mishawaka Avenue and located a knife in his possession.

Maldonado was arrested and transported to the St. Joseph County Jail. there was no immediate word on why he was trying to get into the school building or if he had some sort of connection to the school.

The high school was placed on lockdown for roughly 15 minutes as the incident unfolded and concluded.

All students were said to be safe, and no injuries were reported.

What about all the males with knives who were already inside? It’s John Adams, after all. There are more blades in there than on my lawn.

This Police Officer needs a real ” thank you” He/She ran towards the danger not away from it as the Police did in Florida and Teas He/She protected the students ! Thank you !
