South Bend City Clerk Dawn Jones plans to announces her intent to run for re-election on Wednesday. Jones issued a statement saying she wants to continue contributing to the development of the city and wants to help residents understand the inner workings of municipal government so citizens can become  more mentally and emotionally committed  to the city’s progress.

City Clerk, Dawn Jones, announces her plans to file to run for re-election for City Clerk on Wednesday, January 4 at 8:00 a.m. at the County Clerk’s Office in the County/City Building.
Community activist and advocate for the marginalized, Jones seeks to challenge systemic issues as a catalyst for public policy reform that better address the needs of marginalized populations. She has lived experiences of the populations that she advocates for and has over 30 years of public service. She has served her way to the position of city clerk and will continue to serve the community in every way she is resourced to do. Jones earned her stripes in the community as a public servant working in a congressional office, public housing, workforce development, YMCA Urban Youth Services and education reform as a 19-year member of the South Bend Community School Corporation Board of Trustees. The soon to be Doctor of Business Administration has dedicated her life to standing in the gap for the underserved and being a catalyst for public policy that serves them better.
“Even though this term has been challenging due to a global pandemic, we have accomplished a lot at the workplace.” Modern technology has been placed in the council chambers in collaboration with county officials. New software has been implemented to provide a more effective, simplified agenda generating mechanism, while also managing the city’s legislative process through Covid 19 in addition to constructed functional working space for at large council members. She began a radio broadcast, “Agenda Review” as another means of getting information to the public about upcoming bills, ordinances, and resolutions.
Additionally, with the help of city Information Technology department, she has designed an interactive form that can be found on the city clerk’s website for individuals who want to share their concerns with council members as well as a short video explaining the legislative process. Over the term, she has attended 469 council and committee meetings, processed 337 hours of minutes, 221 ordinances, 154 resolutions and 10,921 parking tickets bringing $194, 720 in revenue for the city. “our city is growing and moving ahead.” We must continue to grow and move with it as we move toward discovering even more innovative ways to distribute information to the community.
It is my intention to continue contributing to the development of our city by exploring and adopting innovative approaches that encourage and empower people to become involved with our growing city. Aiding our residents in understanding the inner workings of municipal government is a goal of the clerk so that citizens become even more mentally and emotionally committed in the progress of our city. As city clerk, I will keep supplying opportunities to share essential information about city processes and progress.”

Dawn Jones should be in jail, not in office.

My apologies, I had her confused with St Joseph County Clerk Rita Glenn.

Dawn Jones has some personal financial issues and some fraud with the Indiana DWD, and a checkered past on the SBCSC Board, but that doesn’t descend her to the depths of Rita Glenn’s crimes.

This was an extremely mean and unwarranted comment. I have known Dawn for many years ever since she interned for Tim Roemer. She is hardworking, a good person, intelligent and gracious.
