“Mamas Against Violence” to host 20 year anniversary dinner

The group “Mamas Against Violence” will host a 20 year anniversary dinner on Saturday, May 6.
The non-profit organization was founded two decades ago after Bobbie Woods lost her son to gun violence.
The group has been working towards preventing gun violence through walks, educational conferences, and fundraisers in the community.
The organization also helps families with funeral arrangements, processing paperwork, and emotional support.

How about Momas against crime, gangs and drug use…momas for family values and two parent families. Guns don’t cause violence any more than hammers cause nails to be driven (who says knife violence, hand violence, fill in the blank violence?). You can’t fix the broken elements of society by ignoring the real cause of the problem.

Ditto!

How about Momas for living with a husband and father of their children. Children with a married father and mother living under the same roof are far less likely to be involved in violence of any kind. Gun Violence is a meaningless phrase. Guns are inanimate objects or tools. All such things need a HUMAN to animate. Hun=mans are animated by their brains and training. You can train your kids to be honest and law abiding or you can train them to be criminal. I’m all for Mamas against violence. My mom was against it too as is the mother of my children and the mothers of our grandchildren. But I will not move a single iota towards giving up my rights to defend myself and my loved ones against other people’s kids who have violent tendencies.

Thor, well said on all the points you brought up. It’s the criminal and not objects use as weapons.

If Mamas want to save their kids, the first thing they need to do is stop blaming the guns and start blaming the kids! Then, and only then, will we see some positive results.
