Truck driver robbed at gunpoint at LaPorte County gas station

Police are looking for a suspect they say robbed a truck driver at gunpoint at a LaPorte County gas station.

The armed robbery was reported at about 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 8, at the Gallops Marathon gas station on U.S. 20 in LaPorte County near the Porter County line.

The 59-year-old victim told officers he was sitting in the cab of his semi when the suspect opened the door and pointed a small caliber chrome handgun at him, according to Capt. Michael Kellems with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect demanded money and got away with $6. He was described as a thin white male with facial hair on his chin, Kellems said. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
