Abused puppy rescued, undergoing medical treatment while police search for suspect

A puppy found with injuries to its jaw and two broken hips has caught the attention of the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies discovered the puppy on Christmas Day in Michigan City, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Officers are trying to find out who is responsible for the puppy’s injuries.

A group called “Guardians of the Green Mile” is caring for the dog which they’ve named “Chance Christmas.”

The animal’s jaw injuries were caused by having it’s snout taped shut, ABC 57 reported.

Chance has undergone one surgery but will require more.

Anyone with information about who may be responsible for hurting the dog contact the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

A donation fund to help pay for the dog’s medical expenses has been set up, as well.
