Woman stabbed to death, husband placed under arrest

A woman was stabbed to death and her husband has been arrested.

South Bend Police and the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit were called to the 4400 block of Ashard Drive on the city’s northwest side, around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 23.

On arrival, police found the victim, Argusta Gathright, 44, injured in the front yard of a home. She was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

The woman’s hurband, Carl Gathright, 46, was arrested, suspected in connection with her death, according to Metro Homicide.

The stabbing is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute. As many as three children were at the home at the time on the stabbing.
