An Elkhart man charged with a grocery store robbery has pleaded guilty.

34 year old Charles Miller pleaded guilty to armed robbery for a total of up to 12 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections between time served, probation and home detention.

The robbery happened at Kroger in Elkhart on January 15.

A witness had called police to inform them that a man had taken a woman’s purse and made threats with a knife.

The victim stated that she was returning to her car when the man entered her backseat, demanded her to give him the keys or to start driving and brought a knife to her neck when she refused.

The passenger attempted to grab the suspects hand, and eventually dropped the car keys outside the drivers side door.

Miller allegedly walked around the vehicle and took the victim’s Coach purse which contained two Coach wallets, an iPhone, $74 and three silver rings. An officer was able to locate Miller shortly after.

His sentencing is scheduled for November 2.
