An eye doctor is going to be inducted into the South Bend Community Hall of Fame.

It’s happening at an Award Banquet on Oct. 10.

The event is meant to celebrate the accomplishments of people who have made contributions to the community. Dr. Steve Gerber is being inducted.

He has practiced medicine at Advanced Ophthalmology of Michiana for 30 years.

WNDU reports that he is part of the kindness to prevent blindness program, teaches, and is a volunteer tennis coach at Penn High School.

The dinner will be at the Century Center.
