Indiana Dept. of Health provides $250 thousand grant to tackle high Hispanic infant mortality rate

The Indiana Department of Health has provided a grant worth $250,000 to tackle the high infant mortality rate among Hispanics in Elkhart County.
The county is ranked among the top 10 counties with the highest infant mortality rate in the state.
Moreover, the 46516-zip code in the county has the highest infant mortality rate in the state, with a rate of 13.7, which is more than double the average infant mortality rate in Indiana.
During an interview, Lilliana Quintero, the executive director of NIHHC, highlighted that the infant mortality rate in the county is 8.2, which is a cause for concern.
