Scam calls coming from individual claiming to be with LaPorte Co. Sheriff’s Office

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a rise in scam phone calls from an individual claiming to be one of their deputies.

They warn that their phone number has been spoofed on caller ID, and the caller claims to be calling about an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for jury duty, looking for payment of fines.

The number is 219-326-7700.

The Sheriff’s Department says that they never contact you via the telephone to request payments for warrants or fines, and you should hang up if you get one of those calls.
