A South Bend man and his passenger escaped serious injury after a fiery crash in Cass County.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 19, in the 800 block of Carberry Road in Howard Township.
Deputies say a 27-year-old man from South Bend was driving north on Carberry Road when his vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and caught fire. Both the driver and his passenger were able to get out of the vehicle before it was fully engulfed.
The passenger was taken to Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in Niles with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not hospitalized.
The crash remains under investigation.
