Two Hoosier basketball coaches are among those in the American Heart Association’s inaugural Hearts on the Court Collective

Indiana University women’s basketball coach Teri Moren and Notre Dame’s Niele Ivey are joining 17 other NCAA women’s basketball coaches in the initiative, encouraging women to prioritize their heart health through the Go Red for Women movement.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death for women in the U.S., taking more than 440,000 lives each year. The coaches will help raise awareness this season through public service messages on healthy habits, like exercise, nutrition and sleep.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey, who leads the effort, says the goal is to empower women to take charge of their health and prevent heart disease.
