The Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division teamed up with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance for the CVSA Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative this year.

The initiative was  held January 12th through the 16th. The effort focused on educating commercial drivers, motor carriers, school bus drivers, law enforcement and the public on how to recognize and report human trafficking.

During the initiative, troopers inspected 718 commercial vehicles and distributed more than one-thousand awareness materials from TAT, formerly Truckers Against Trafficking.

Seven outreach events and six media interviews helped spread the message statewide. Officials say commercial drivers often encounter trafficking situations, and more than forty percent of cases reported by truckers involve minors. For more information, visit the NHTRC website.
