Victim identified in St. Joseph River drowning off of S. Twyckenham in South Bend

An investigation is under way in South Bend following the discovery of a body in the St. Joseph River.

On Monday, August 21, around 6:30 p.m., South Bend Police and Fire units were dispatched to the 1200 block of S. Twyckenham on reports of the body that was found in the water.

The victim has been identified as Anthony McDonald, 38, of Elkhart.

Upon arrival, officers and fire crews located a body and immediately contacted the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Coroner’s Office.

The D.N.R. has taken over the investigation.

He didn’t even have enough water In his lungs to say he downed . They don’t know how he died and they don’t care it seems .
