Drivers need to slow down while driving through construction on Mishawaka Avenue, police say

Police in Mishawaka are asking drivers to plan ahead for detours around Mishawaka Avenue and Cedar Street and to slow down while in the area.

The Mishawaka Police Department has received numerous complaints of drivers speeding through the neighborhood, disregarding stop signs and driving the wrong way on one way streets, Lt. Tim Williams said. Neighbors are concerned about potential dangers for children.

Drivers traveling in the area should be on the lookout for children and traffic signs. Drivers should not use Edgewater Drive to get around the construction, Williams said.

Barring unforeseen construction issues or weather problems, the construction is expected to wrap up Oct. 16.
