South Bend area residents will have a chance to see a 5-foot long 3,000-pound beam from the World Trade Center in South Bend on Thursday night, Oct. 22.

The public can view the beam from 6 to 7 pm. at the at the South Bend Fire Department Central station, 1222 S. Michigan St., South Bend. 

Four Poudre Fire Authority firefighters who were involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, rescue efforts are traveling with the beam and will be available to talk with the public as well.

The beam and the firefighters is spending the night Thursday at the South Bend Fire Department as it travels to its new home at the Poudre Fire Authority in Fort Collins, Colo.
