Michigan man sentenced to prison for stealing money from a Girl Scout selling cookies

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A 50-year-old man has received prison time for stealing a Girl Scout’s money during a cookie drive outside a south Lansing Kmart.

The Lansing State Journal reports that Thomas Dawkins was sentenced Thursday to eight to 25 years. Dawkins, of DeWitt Township, pleaded guilty last month to two counts of larceny.

Prosecutors have said Dawkins snatched a cash box with hundreds of dollars from the girl’s table, where she was selling cookies on March 29 and ran off.
